What we keep, what we never keep, and how to have any of it erased. Written to be read, not to be survived.
Last updated 13 August 2026
The short version
We don't keep your recordings or your screenshots — not for a minute, not anywhere. We do keep the interview questions you were asked, so we can build an interview preparation product from what real employers actually ask. We don't keep the answers we wrote for you unless you tell us to. You can switch all of it off in the app, and you can have everything we've kept deleted by asking.
What happens during a call
StashCue listens for a question, sends that short clip to an AI service to be transcribed and answered, and shows you the answer. When you press Scan, it does the same with a picture of your screen.
Neither the audio nor the screenshot is stored by us. It's used to produce your answer and then it's gone. It does pass through the AI provider that generates the answer, and that provider handles it under its own terms.
What we keep, and why
| What | Why we keep it |
|---|---|
| The question you were asked | To build an interview preparation product from questions employers really ask. This is the one thing here we keep for a reason beyond running the app, and it's the one you can switch off. |
| The answer we generated | Only if you turn it on. It's off by default, because that answer is written from your CV and so it's really about you. |
| Your CV or notes | So answers can be grounded in your real experience instead of invented. It stays attached to your licence, is never attached to a stored question, and you can replace or clear it from the app at any time. |
| Your email address | To send your licence key and, if you asked to be told when credits open, to tell you. |
| Your licence and credit balance | To know what you've bought and what you have left. |
| A scrambled fingerprint of your computer | So one licence runs on one machine. It's a one-way scramble — it can confirm the same computer came back, and it can't be turned into anything about your computer. |
| A scrambled form of your network address | Only at sign-up, and only to stop one person farming unlimited free trials. Scrambled the same one-way manner, and never linked to what you asked. |
| Payment records | Amount, currency, and the reference from whoever processed it. We never see or hold your card details — those go straight to Paystack, Stripe or Paga. |
What we deliberately don't do
- We don't store your recordings or your screen images.
- We don't attach your CV to a stored question. When we study questions to build the prep product, we're looking at what was asked — not at who was asked it.
- We don't sell your data, and we don't hand it to advertisers.
- We don't record anything when the app isn't listening, and pausing it stops it at once.
Turning it off, and having it erased
Email support@stashcue.com and we will, for the licence you bought:
- Stop keeping your questions — from that moment on, nothing further is kept.
- Erase everything already kept — permanently. It can't be undone and we can't recover it for you afterwards.
- Send you a copy of what we hold about you, or correct it if it's wrong.
We'll action any of these within a few days, and we won't ask you to justify it.
Switches for all of this are coming to the app itself in a future version, so you won't need to email anyone. Until that update ships, email is the way — and it works today.
How long we keep it
- Questions: up to 24 months, then deleted automatically.
- Your CV: until you replace it, clear it, or close your licence.
- Licence, credits and payment records: as long as your licence exists, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- Waiting-list email: until you ask us to remove it.
Who else touches it
We use a small number of services to run StashCue, and only for that: an AI provider to generate answers, a hosting and database provider to run the service, an email provider to send your key, and payment processors to take payment. Each sees only what it needs to do its job.
Where you are
StashCue is operated from Nigeria and serves customers in other countries, so your information may be handled outside where you live. Wherever you are, the rights above — see it, correct it, delete it, opt out — apply to you. If you're in Nigeria, the Nigeria Data Protection Act applies; if you're in the UK or the EU, the GDPR does.
Children
StashCue isn't for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly keep information about anyone who is.
If this changes
If we ever want to keep something new, we'll change this page and say so in the app before we start — not afterwards.
